The 992 Carrera 4, Porsche's base model 911 with all-wheel drive is slightly pricier than its rear-drive counterpart. It retains the same 379-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.0ltr flat-six engine and eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Standard features include Porsche's active suspension and "wet mode," but lack the electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential (standard on the 4S) and ceramic composite brakes. Equipped with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), the Carrera 4 offers electronically variable damping with "Normal" and "Sport" modes. With 379 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 331 ft lbs of torque, the 992 Carrera 4 achieves 0-60 in 4.0 seconds, dropping to 3.8 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. It boasts a top speed of 180 mph and a quarter-mile time of 12.3 seconds.
The 992 Carrera 4 offers impressive cornering, neutral handling, and ample grip, making it enjoyable for daily driving without excessive speeds. Its all-wheel-drive system, refined from the previous generation, enhances traction on various surfaces, including snow and wet conditions. The all-wheel-drive system is seamlessly integrated, transferring power to the rear wheels in most situations but redistributing up to 50 percent forward if rear-wheel slip is detected, ensuring a rear-drive-like driving experience.
Ideal for regions with cold weather, the 992 Carrera 4 includes Wet Mode as standard, automatically detecting water on the road and optimizing vehicle settings for wet conditions. Overall, it's a practical yet exhilarating choice for everyday driving, combining performance and all-weather capability.
